so, whenever i bring this is, i am invariably fed a line along the notes of "we circumcise boys here, what's the difference"

first. BABIES. they don't remember. it happens right at birth.
second. function. show me the guy who can't orgasm because of circumcision.
third. infection. boys are circumcised AND TREATED. girls are circumcised and covered in ashed.

i could go on and on. no, i do not even think that male circumcision is right. but... male circumcision removes the forskin. female circumcision, GENERALLY, removes the clitoris. it's only supposed to remove the hood, a practise analgolous to male circumcision, but most of the time the ENTIRE clit is removed. often, the labia minor (inner lips) as well, and also often, the whole thing is then FUCKING SOWN SHUT SO THAT THERE IS FURTHER PROOF THE GIRL IS A VIRGIN AT MARRIAGE. sometimes the groom has to use a fucking KNIFE before he can have sex with his lucky bride.

it's horrible. it's cultural. it is NOT religious (Muhummad spoke AGAINST it in the Quo'ran!). it's barbaric. it's inexcusable.

Male Circumcision: I'm in favor of to a degree, if only because of all the health problems that can arise from not doing it. Not only is it cleaner (it really is. I know they say just wash, but fuck, i forget to wash behind my EARS sometimes) but if you lave no foreskin you can't tear it during rough sex.

Oh, did you not know that can happen? yeah. rough sex and you can tear your foreskin. I hear it hurts like a bitch. And god knows I don't want any son of mine having pussy 1980's John Tesh sex. I want him fucking like a beast.

But female circumcision, as far as I can tell, has no positive effects at all and tons of negative effects. And it makes me ill. I saw a video of one being performed once and i wanted to kill the guy doing it.

i have also seen video. also, years ago when my mom was still working in the ER and i was a volunteer someone brought their daughter in. the guy shared custody with his *very* fundy ex-wife, he had forbidden her to have it performed on their daughter, so the next time she got the kid for the weekend she, i shit you not, DID IT HERSELF WHILE RECEIVING INSTRUCTION ON THE PHONE WITH THE WOMAN WHO HAD DONE IT TO HER AS A CHILD IN SAUDI. on her 9 year old daughter. with a kitchen knife. with no anesthetic, no clean up, not even rubbing alcohal, nuthin. and sent the girl back to her father in bloody panties. dropped her off, waited til the girl got to the front door (didn't even HELP HER WALK) drove to the airport and was gone. the girl was in shock, and the father was almost incoherant. he almost got arrested because the registration people couldn't believe a *mother* would do that to her daughter but were perfectly willing to believe a man would. a man, i might add, who was not muslim and never had been, was not arabic or any other middle eastern (he was something eastern european, by the accent).

sorry. this is one of those things where, as much as it's a crime of the patriarchy, the actual implementation is almost always female. who do it because they had it done to them, and they don't want their daughter's "future husband prospect ruined" by not being mutilated. misogyny enrages me, but this actually makes me insane.

BTW - alex (F.) isn't circumcised. talk to him about it. i have had boyfrieds who weren't. two. one was fine. the other was nasty, and i refused to have sex with him (which i guess is mean but look, it was NASTY grossy and had puss. a discharge. just.......*shudder*)

this particular guy had an infection under his foreskin. at first i felt very bad for him, but talking to his sister taught me otherwise - he had had problems ever since he was supposed to start cleaning himself. he wouldn't, and things would build up under the foreskin and putrefy and... it was this horrible cycle, fixable if he would just pull back his foreskin and clean every day like he had been told too. it was very gross... and weird, i say he was "less than cleanly" but he BATHED everyday, so i don't know why he ignored this bit.

I'm going to call it not. having a penis and knowing uncircumcised males it is easier to clean a circumcised penis. It just is. And admittedly, it's not a big difference, but as i said, men forget to wash behind out ears, what the hell makes anyone think we'll wash in our penises?

For that matter, I actually know someone who couldn't have a sex life because his foreskin was too tight. he had to stretch it out before he could do the deed. What the hell kind of bullshit is that?
