so, whenever i bring this is, i am invariably fed a line along the notes of "we circumcise boys here, what's the difference"

first. BABIES. they don't remember. it happens right at birth.
second. function. show me the guy who can't orgasm because of circumcision.
third. infection. boys are circumcised AND TREATED. girls are circumcised and covered in ashed.

i could go on and on. no, i do not even think that male circumcision is right. but... male circumcision removes the forskin. female circumcision, GENERALLY, removes the clitoris. it's only supposed to remove the hood, a practise analgolous to male circumcision, but most of the time the ENTIRE clit is removed. often, the labia minor (inner lips) as well, and also often, the whole thing is then FUCKING SOWN SHUT SO THAT THERE IS FURTHER PROOF THE GIRL IS A VIRGIN AT MARRIAGE. sometimes the groom has to use a fucking KNIFE before he can have sex with his lucky bride.

it's horrible. it's cultural. it is NOT religious (Muhummad spoke AGAINST it in the Quo'ran!). it's barbaric. it's inexcusable.

I'll give this a big AMEN. I'd have to agree that most people make the argument you pointed out. I also think that they don't understand exactly what female circumcision really entails.

Agreed on all counts.

Male Circumcision: I'm in favor of to a degree, if only because of all the health problems that can arise from not doing it. Not only is it cleaner (it really is. I know they say just wash, but fuck, i forget to wash behind my EARS sometimes) but if you lave no foreskin you can't tear it during rough sex.

Oh, did you not know that can happen? yeah. rough sex and you can tear your foreskin. I hear it hurts like a bitch. And god knows I don't want any son of mine having pussy 1980's John Tesh sex. I want him fucking like a beast.

But female circumcision, as far as I can tell, has no positive effects at all and tons of negative effects. And it makes me ill. I saw a video of one being performed once and i wanted to kill the guy doing it.

As someone who studies Middle Eastern culture as part of my business, I have a VERY strong opinion on this.

The hood of the clitoris is removed in order to make sex permanently painful for her, thereby increasing the chance of keeping her virginity and fidelity. Sometimes the entire clitoris is removed to eliminate any chance at all that she could somehow gain some tiny bit of pleasure. The labia and all is removed to deny her the existence of her femininity. She is sewn shut to preserve her virginity until her husband cuts her open on their wedding night. And is frequently sewn shut again to ensure her fidelity in his absence.

The worst part is that this "tradition" is perpetuated NOT by men, but by the WOMEN! The mothers and grandmothers who have been taught that this is not only normal, but necessary!!!

Some radical factions of Islam teach that women have no control over their "desire" and we were put on this earth for one thing. No, it isn't sex (believe it or not). It's to distract and prevent men from doing "God's work". According to these teachings, if left to our own devices, we will fuck anything and everything constantly. It's beyond ludicrous.

In defense of Islam, the Q'ran says nothing of female mutilation. It is the Suras - the laws and customs developed by men that have done this.

Check out the "Women's Studies" section a large bookstore - it's amazing the horror stories you'll find there, not only about female circumcision, but many other things as well.

If your veil slips and a stranger in a stairway gets even a glimpse of your face, even by accident, it is punishable by death. And the executioner is your father, your uncle, your brother... because somehow you're a whore for showing your face to someone other than a male relative and has tarnished the family's "honor".

Women who are raped are sent to prison or stoned because the court says they had to have done something to entice their attacker. It is a man's nature - surely he can't be punished for that, can he?

It absolutely makes me want to scream in frustration! And the women - countless generations of them - have been brainwashed into thinking that this is necessary.

All circumcision is wrong. Period. I've always had major sensitivity issues with sex. I didn't even have an orgasm until I was 19 (even though I was a father at 15). I've always wondered if I hadn't been "damaged" somehow when they snipped me.

There isn't a SINGLE health related reason for ANY circumcision. That's a fallacy, plain and simple.

I've heard about this nasty shit. Some southern states have outlawed certain types of body piercing to be done there because practitioners of this.... procedure have moved there and the inhabiting people don't want it done in their state. I think it's pretty fucked up. Why would I want a girl to now fully be able to experience how amazing I am in bed?
