Ugh.

It makes me so MAD that there are people who actually believe they have a RIGHT to tell rape victims "F*** YOU!" if they get pregnant and would make them unable to terminate the pregnancy; even in your article people are fighting it.

G-d, what's wrong with the world? If I got raped and pregnant, I am utterly confident my rabbi would tell me to get an abortion if it was causing me trauma (which it would) unless the abortion would be more traumatic. Not that emergency contraception is viewed as abortion by me; I just mean that even if I was actually definitely pregnant that would be the consensus.

And if my life was going to be endangered more than normal for childbirth, I'd be told to have an abortion, period, because you're not allowed to kill yourself over a "maybe." I mean, there are pro-lifers in Judaism I'm sure (my father definitely leans that way but not loudly enough as to influence the law) but the political opinion tends to be choice amongst rabbinic authorities.

its about defining what women can do. and can't do. restricting choice to punish women for not living up to so outmoded, outdated ideal version of womanhood.
and, of course, the BAYBEES!!! that the pro-lifers never again care about after birth.

thats why i am so happy WI is taking this step, trying to ensure that the choices and options stay available!
