no, its not what you think...
i ran across this review for a book: http://www.southendpress.org/2007/items/87767
Getting Off
Pornography and the End of Masculinity
Robert Jensen
there is a radio interview, and the author is discussing, based on a caller question, why men think about sex around 1000/day and women 3-5/day. he says much of it is probably socialization, that men are SOCIALIZED to A) think about sex a lot and B) to think of women as only sex objects
which makes me wonder about a think that has been kinda bugging me for a while.
i have lots of gay friends. i know more gay guys than gay women. i also know lots of gay guys don't really like girls. i dont mean like as in attracted to, i mean like as in friends.
so i postulate that it is possible that a percentage of the men who are gay aren't gay because they are actually gay, but because they are seeking a relationship with an equal, someone who earns their respect - and most guys are socialized to NOT view women as equal and worthy of respect.
its just an interesting idea, that i may have to look into.
in sad news, my second favorite webcomic, "Home on the Strange" had an announcment today that they are ending the strio. which fucking sux, because it is one of TWO webcomics i read (around 30) that actually UPDATES ON TIME ALL THE TIME and ALSO is cinsictently well-written, drawn, and funny.
i'm really hoping they got their calendars mixed up, and that this was an April Fool's joke gone awry
