Throw them out. It's that easy. Less people means less mess and less strain on the utilities until you can get new roommates who you can indoctrinate from the get-go. You are on the lease, you can *do* that.
As for selling books ... go ahead and post a list of ones you are willing to part with and we can see what kind of deals can be made. Wolf is back online Monday and I know he has a few he needs to replace, too. That way if all else fails, when you get back into money you can just buy them back. :)
