"What your vote really means
If you or someone you know is thinking about voting for M/P because you own a business and want tax breaks, you need to stop being a single-issue voter and pay more attention. But lets say you only want to focus on your business. Here's the problem with that.
OK, someone give me a business ... (magazine publisher) ... I heard magazine publisher.
So, you run a magazine. You make your money by selling magazines, but also by selling ad space to other companies. Your subscriptions are up, but the economy is down. The ad space you sell is catered to the people who read your magazine, but they don't really have enough money to purchase the products you advertise. So the companies stop buying ad space because the ads are not working, and they can no longer afford the ads. So you have to raise the price of your magazine. And all the people who were purchasing your product no longer have the disposable income to buy it, so you go under. Was the potential tax break worth it?
If you think the economy is bad now, wait until McCain/Palin gets a hold of it. Palin is being called "Ms. Bush" by Republicans, and almost makes Shrub look like a Lefty. McCain is clueless, and proves it every time he opens his mouth. He married an heiress - does anyone really think he understands what it is like to be a working man anymore? Not that Obama is poor, but he actually worked his way to where he is.
Of course, there are other items at stake here. For instance, a vote for M/P is a vote for an attempt at outlawing abortion. It is a vote for unending war and a probable draft. It is a vote for destroying Alaskan wilderness that has been protected for generations just to look for oil - when there is still plenty to be refined from approved drilling areas. It is a vote against looking for alternate fuel sources and reducing pollution. It is a vote for continuing Bush's failed policies of the past 8 years. It is a vote against age-appropriate sex education, which has proven to be highly effective, and a vote for abstinence-only education, which has been proven to be useless. It is a vote against the middle and lower classes who will have taxes raised until they can't afford higher learning, effectively creating a warrior class whose only use will be to fight the wars we start to make the little money we pay them to take care of their families. (BTW, most of these people are minorities.) It is a vote for war profiteering, as the companies involved in the manufacture of the munitions and the rebuilding of the countries we decimate are effectively the same, and make money either way. It is a vote for the 10 Trillion dollars in debt we have accrued under Bush against the fact that he started with a surplus of Billions. It is a vote for an aggressive war footing instead of a diplomatic solution. It is a vote against affordable medical insurance and healthy children (but only in the lower classes, who are, again, mostly minorities).
And it is most certainly not a vote to help small business. Republicans care not for small business, as evidenced by the legislation passed in collusion with the RIAA and the MPAA to protect copyrights in other countries (China) to stop pirating of music and film in trade for lowering or removing tariffs on incoming goods, effectively helping the WalMart chain, HUGE Republican supporters, to reduce and remove competition by importing goods for free and lowering prices until mom and pops could no longer keep up, killing small cities full of small businesses all over the country. (Oh, and the piracy has never been stopped, or really even stalled in any way.)
These people are NO GOOD for this country. They care NOTHING for anyone but themselves, and would sell their Jewish grandmother to Nazis if they thought they could get back her gold teeth after they gassed her. Palin has lied about most everything she has been asked since she crawled out from under that rock, and McCain is an angry man just seething with hatred and malice.
There is so much more at stake here than a tax break on a small business (which probably would be better under Obama anyway). This election is about the future of the country, and whether or not it will even have one. If McCain/Palin win (read: steal a third election), I'm not so sure Rome, er America, will last another four years."
i can't think right anymore. my leg hurts too much. but he can, and he articulated it nicely.
